Here’s a photo of what Graham from KL Polish looks like ~at night, with the flash~
My KL Polish order finally came in today! It came super quickly. I ordered Point Zero, Aquarius, Graham & Taurus. When I got home from work today I immediately painted my nails. Above, is my nails painted with Taurus.
First, the brush. The brush is flexible and leaves no streaks but it’s very wide. The width made it difficult to paint my pinky & pointer finger without getting polish on my skin.
Second, the formula. The formula is thick. I love it, Taurus was basically opaque with only one coat. ~As a beginner~ I like to only put a little polish on the brush but I found it was easier to spread this evenly with so little. But also I’m dramatic and they came out fine, if I say so myself.
Overall, 9/10. The brush is something I could easily get used to and the formula of this seems really promising.
I cannot wait to use the other colors, I’ll write another post about how the polish wore over time with pictures of the other colors as well.
My hair was stick-straight until I got to college & it decided to frizz and get an odd wavy texture. It was pretty terrible, to be honest. Then I decided to cut my hair short and it ended up being pretty straight and smooth again. I thought it was back to normal for good. But as it grew back it just kept getting frizzy.
I’ve tried hair masks, I’ve conditioned my hair for 15 minutes in the shower, I’ve used Moroccan oil, coconut oil, etc. And nothing tamed the beast.
I heard about Ouai hair products on Youtube and then started looking into reviews. I was at Sephora and saw that they had a mini size for $12 (1.7 oz) and was going to buy it until I saw the 5 oz for $26 (I’m not sure if that’s actually a better deal) but I bought the larger size.
I’ve used it about 4-6 times and think that I can give an honest review. This product is weird. You can use it in damp or dry hair, but I find that no matter when I use it, that this product makes my hair sticky and hard. I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong. It honestly just makes my hair feel dirty. I watched the ‘How to’ videos on Youtube and on the Sephora website but I just don’t like it. I’m going to continue to use it in different ways and see if I can find a way to make it not make my hair feel sticky and hard.
Ill keep you updated.
This month I rediscovered some items that I already owned and did a little bit of shopping. Here are the things that I enjoyed a lot this month and used frequently.
Formula 10.0.6 Berry Face Wash: I already have two of their mud face masks. The orange Deep Down Detox mask and the pink Pores Be Pure mask, and I liked this brand a lot so I decided to get one of their everyday face washes. It smells like berries, it’s pretty gentle and not drying. I use it morning and night on most days. I also occasionally use it with my Clinique face brush, too.
Head & Shoulders Almond Oil Shampoo and Conditioner: I’ve been using Head & Shoulders for years and every time I try to branch away from Head & Shoulders my dry and flaky scalp comes back. I have the Smooth & Silky conditioner at home for a while and I loved it, maybe more than this conditioner actually. But this conditioner really hydrates my hair, it doesn’t really help with my curls though. It smells super good and I like that the H&S conditioners are meant to go on your hair from scalp to ends. The directions actually tell you to massage it into your scalp.
Oral B Pro 1000 Electric Toothbrush: My mom convinced me to buy an electric toothbrush a month or two ago and I surprisingly love it. So every 30 seconds the toothbrush has a distinctive vibration to let you know to move onto another quarter of your mouth, and then another distinctive vibration at 2 minutes to let you know you’re done.It also has a light that tells you when it needs to be recharged. This lasts me about 4-6 days between charges.
Gold Nike Rosches: I bought these at Marshalls for about $50 and they have a snakeskin pattern to them. They go great with jeans and leggings. I like to wear them to campus and work because they’re super comfortable, I would never work out in these because they have don’t have the right arch, in my opinion.
Old Navy vest: I bought this last year but we’ve had a few days where this vest came in handy. I like to wear it over my flannel or a long sleeve sweater. I bought it on sale and I think it was a great purchase. I don’t love the hood but not a huge deal. I think a vest is a great fall piece, especially since a lot of my leggings & sweaters don’t have pockets.
Checkered Vans: Lately, these have been my go-to shoe. They were super easy to break-in. They go with almost everything that I own. I’ve worn them to work, tailgates, classes. I am asking for a solid-color pair for Christmas, too.
Navy Blue crocs: I love to wear these after a long day of work or during my 1 hour and 15-minute drive home on Sundays when I’m a little hungover. I love to wear these with socks because I don’t like when my feet stick to them. I normally wear these with leggings, flannel, and vest. My go-to cozy outfit.
Covergirl Lash Blast Bloom mascara: I included this in a previous haul but I ended up loving it and had to share. I was previously using the Clinique High Impact mascara but I bought this one from Target because I liked what the applicator looked like. I tried it out and it makes my lashes so much longer than the Clinique one and I love it. It’s probably 1/2 the price but I like it so much better.
I have three tattoos already and decided to get another one last week. I wanted to share my experience. I googled and Pinterest-searched “tulip tattoo” and “tulip sketch” and I pinned and saved a lot of pictures. This was my favorite.
I decided that I didn’t want the tattoo in color so I changed it to black and white in the iPhone settings. I made an appointment with a tattoo artist and emailed her the photo, I asked for it to be about 6 cm long on my inner upper arm. I basically put the shading into her hands and had faith since I stalked her on Instagram before and after scheduling with her. This is how it turned out….it looks a little pink from my skin being slightly irritated. If you wanna read about the time, pain, and price then keep on reading 🙂
I made sure I wore a tank top under my sweatshirt so I wouldn’t need to roll up my sleeve and accidentally rub the tattoo too hard while pulling it down (I am super paranoid for like two weeks after I get a tattoo). It took her about 10-15 minutes to clean down and prepare her place, so she took me around 2 and I was out by 2:17. Alysha had me lay on my back with my left arm slightly twisted towards her. I asked her about the pain scale and she said that it wouldn’t hurt but it might be a little pinchy. I already have a tattoo to the right of my right knee, on my right ribs, and on my left shoulder, none of these hurt so I wasn’t scared. This one was a little more pinchy though because the skin was looser. So I would say 0/10 on the pain scale and a 1/10 on the annoying scale. I paid $80 for this tattoo, their minimum was $70 and then a 20% tip.
I know that the holidays aren’t about gifts but about family but my mother requests a wish list every year and gets mad at me if I don’t put one together. She loves buying presents.
So, my birthday is about a week before Christmas so making a wish list can be sort of overwhelming. But here is what I am thinking about adding to my wishlist this year…
-I already have all of the technology that I would want, so that’s not on my list this year. But for those interested in something cool, the HP sprocket is a popular item this year.
–A new phone case. I have the loopy phone case, which I love, but sometimes, I just want something with a little more protection and a little more fashionable.
–Makeup brushes. Right now I use the contour brush that came with my Smashbox trio and I hate it. It’s not as soft as I want.
–Mules/Slide Ons. It’s no secret that I adore shoes. But this year, especially this fall, I’ve been eyeing the mule trend, I love slip on shoes and I think they go super great with jeans
–Black Booties. Everyone already has these but I am a little behind, but this year I am trying to step up my bootie game
–Oversized sweaters. I love sweaters but a lot of mine are from high school, so they’re a little small now and just not as cute as I want. I love the oversized trend because it’s cozy and can go with leggings, jeans, skirts.
–Oversized Denim Jacket. I love the denim jacket style. I’m not sure I’d wear it with jeans but I would definitely wear it with black leggings, black jeans, dresses, skirts.
–Bomber jacket. A style that I loved when I was in elementary and middle school and a look that I think would be great to rock again. I think it would go great with a t-shirt, jeans/leggings, sneakers or even booties. I think a bomber jacket and a denim jacket are both staples in a wardrobe.
–Denim Skirt. I am not really a skirt girl but I would like to be and I think a denim skirt is the perfect way. You can dress them up or you can dress them down. You can wear them with tights or they can be a great alternative to shorts.
–Basic White Tee. Today while thinking about outfits I realized that I don’t have a basic white tee. A white t-shirt is the perfect layering piece for any outfit or the perfect top for an outfit with a statement shoe or bottom.
–Ring. Lately, I’ve been thinking that I want a birthstone ring or just a ring from my mother that I can have forever. A simple ring that I can wear every day.
–Two-layer makeup bag. I really need a new way to keep all of my makeup together and I think these two-layer bags are a great way to organize your makeup whether you’re traveling or you have limited space in your apartment.
–Tarte Toasted palette. I love warm-toned makeup and this is a little warmer than I’m used to but I think it’ll be perfect for every day, the holidays, etc. I swatched the colors and they’re a great formula.
what’re you thinking of asking for?
NYX Mega Shine lip gloss in Clear: Over the past year, I have purchased multiple matte liquid lips, and I don’t personally love the way matte lips look (on myself) and I saw KathleenLights on Youtube talk about how she puts this on top of some of her matte lips.
Lush Lip Scrub: I have purchased their lip scrub in the jar before but this one was cheaper and because I’ve been more into lipsticks I find a lip scrub to be a very important product.
Urban Super Slim Round Sunglasses in Pink: The other day I stepped on my sunglasses and broke them so when I went into Urban I found some pink sunglasses that were out of my comfort zone but I thought were very pretty.
Target Mossimo Shirts:
-I’ve only worn the blue shirt so far and it is incredibly comfortable. I wore it to a full day of classes and it was great for the hot day because it lets in a nice breeze. Also, Mossimo was smart and made this shirt tagless which I am a huge fan of.
-The maroon shirt can be made more conservative. There is a tie in the center that can be tightened or loosened depending on how much cleavage/boob you want to show.
-The velvet tank top doesn’t dip down as low as I wish it did but it is very comfortable and loose which I’m a big fan of when I go out to the bars.
Nalgene 16 oz water bottle: I bought this water bottle about a year ago but my best friend left it at a party last weekend so I bought it on Amazon and got Free 1-day shipping to UMass Amherst. I don’t drink a ton of water so I like that this is 16 oz because it is less intimidating. This water bottle is narrow-mouth so I don’t spill all over myself. I don’t know if you can tell in this photo but this actually is sparkly which is a super cute touch. It is in the color Fire Pink.
Covergirl Bloom Mascara: I have worn this two times now and I actually don’t like it very much. My eyes get very itchy when I wear this mascara and I’m not sure if it’s the mascara or the seasons changing. Also, I think the applicator is a little “sharp” although I do love the shape of it. I am going to use it a few more times because I like the way it separates my lashes and makes them long.
American Eagle Tops: All of these tops were on clearance.
-The bright pink tank top of the left is a tank top that has the cold shoulder detail, it is cute but I find that the sleeves fall off easily.
-I haven’t worn the green shirt yet because I got it in a size Small by mistake and I need to lose some weight before I’ll wear it in public.
-The third shirt, on the right, is a sweater material and it is very cute, I might wear it this weekend but I haven’t yet. It is very soft, too.
Earrings: I recently lost my earrings that I wear in my second holes so I stopped at Francesca’s and picked some up. Now that I’m looking at them I think that one of the small ones is missing the middle piece, but I’m still going to wear them.
Yankee Candles: My best friend & I are now roommates and she loves candles which is making me love candles. I found a few at Bath & Body Works that I loved but they were $25 and I couldn’t justify that. I stopped at Yankee Candle and picked up three small candles. Autumn in the Park (not Autumn Leaves, I hate that one), Honeycrisp Apple Cider, and Farmer’s Market. They all sort of smell like apples to me, but those are my favorite scents.
There are some days when I snooze my alarm 3 times & then need to get ready fairly quickly. Those are always the days my skin looks dull. So here is my “no makeup” makeup look….
Step 1: Apply the Maybelline Age Erase Concealer (the one with the sponge on the end) under your eyes, and where you have any blemishes. I use it where i have redness on my nose and right on my chin.
Step 2: I lightly contoured my nose and my jawbone otherwise I look like I’m 7. Then I highlight the inner corner of my eyes, my cheekbones, my browbone, and the tip of my nose. I use the Smashbox 3-Step Contour Kit.
Step 3: Apply the Clinique High Impact mascara to your top lashes (and bottom if you want). I really like to do both because I have no issue with going a lil’ extra with my eyelashes.
Step 4: (optional) Apply the Burt’s Bees Tinted Lip Balm, my favorite color is Red Dahlia.
Step 1: In the Summer I don’t usually wear concealer because my freckles come out and I love to show them, but when I do I either wear the Clinique Line Smoothing concealer or the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind concealer.
Step 2: I’ve been loving Colourpop’s La La Super Shock Shadow. I use my finger to apply this color all over my lid and then blend it out usually using wanderer or force of nature from the Tarte Amazonian Clay Matte palette.
Step 3: I add the Becca Highlighter in Moonstone to my inner corner and blend it a little towards the center of my eyelid. If I’m not feeling the shimmery look I’ll use one of the matte colors from the Tarte palette.
Step 4: I use the Jane Iredale eyeliner in black (because I haven’t sharpened my brown one, yet)
Step 5: I apply the contour color from the Smashbox Step-by-Step Contour Kit under my cheekbone, on the sides of my nose, and I blend it down my neck, too. (I haven’t ever used the bronze color)
Step 6: I apply the highlighter from the same palette and apply it under my browbone (after brushing through my eyebrows with a spooly), on my cheekbones, on the tip of my nose, and on the top of my lip
Step 7: I love the L’oreal Butterfly Mascara, it makes my eyelashes long, not clumpy. I very much like my eyelashes being separated. I apply this to my top and bottom lashes
Step 8: I’ve been in love with the Colourpop Ultra Blotted lip collection. My favorite color in the collection is Zuma (it’s like my lip color but way prettier). These formulas are transfer-proof which is my favorite part, I’ve never been one to wear lip products besides chapstick.
