Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation + Concealer: Recently I have been noticing more redness of my cheeks and on my nose, so I decided to pick up a foundation. I looked into the Huda No Filter foundation but it was much pricier than I wanted. I went to the Sephora counter to be matched. I am in color .5 Breeze. The Sephora worker applied this to my face with a brush and I don’t think it looked great, so I’m going to try it with a slightly damp sponge and come back with a review. [Link]

Smashbox Primer Water: I usually use the Urban Decay All Nighter setting spray but I was l also running out of my primer and saw that this does both. I know this sounds stupid, but this is really wet. I appreciate that there is no scent but it is very wet, you need to make sure not to spray too close to your face when setting your makeup. Overall, I think the setting effect is good. [Link]

Colourpop Twitterpatted Eyeshadow: I am really into light pink eyeshadows all over my lid. And I saw that Colourpop came out with Twitterpated and was really excited. It is a Supershock Shadow. This color looks fairly dark in the pan but when you swatch and use it (better payoff when applying with your finger, btw) there actually isn’t much color. This shadow is mostly sparkles, and it has a lot of fallout. [Link]

Colourpop Concealers: So I am really bad at color matching so I ordered three different colors. Light 12 & Light 14. Then I think Fair 6, for a highlight because the website recommended it. I normally use the Maybelline Age Rewind (which can be a little orange). These concealers do oxidize quite quickly. I tried them over a tinted moisturizer today without a primer and I didn’t love the way the concealer sat on my skin, I’ll need to try it again. [Link]

Colourpop Blotted Lips: This is my favorite formula that Colourpop makes, they are transfer proof and they have a lot of “your lips but better” colors which I am a huge fan of. I bought the two from Eva’s collab, Party Wave & Love Bite.

Colourpop Lip Pencils: I have been wearing lip colors more often and learned that lip pencils can make a huge difference. I wasn’t sure where to start so I ordered them in Toy & Brink. Figured they would match most of the colors that I own.

Colourpop Brow Pencil: I have been using the Glossier Boy brow more frequently and have been loving it, but I have graduation and some events coming up and want to make sure my brows are up to par with the rest of my makeup. I got it in Dark Brown, I’ll let you know if that’s too dark or not. [Link]

Covergirl CG Smoothers: I used to use this back in high school, and recently have been looking into tinted moisturizers again. I wanted the Aveeno CC cream but they don’t sell my color in store. I got this in Fair to Light, and do wish I had gotten it in Light to Medium but this provides nice hydration and a nice smoothness to the skin. This smells really nice, too. [Link]

Tresemme Thermal Creations Heat Tamer Leave-in Spray: I have been heat styling my hair a lot more recently because it is usually just a frizzy, curly mess. So I wanted to buy a heat protectant. I read this on one of Allure’s lists and it was one of the cheapest ones. [Link]

Friend’s Night Out Makeup Look

Last night, my friends & I went out to watch a friend’s band, Mama’s Marmalade, perform in a small town’s town hall. I hadn’t done a face of makeup in a while so I thought this was the perfect opportunity. I used the Morphe 35W palette for this eye look.

I have pretty clear skin so I tend to stay away from heavy face makeup, so I did my basic face makeup ~again~

  1. I always start my makeup with my Vaseline lip therapy cocoa butter lip balm.
  2. Maybelline Age Rewind concealer under my eyes, on and around the tip of my nose, a little on my chin and upper lip.
  3. I used the Smashbox 24-hour eyeshadow primer on my eyes and while that dried I,
  4. I contoured my face with my (light) Smashbox contour kit, the contour color under my cheekbones, on my jawline, and on the sides of my nose.
  5. I used the highlight color from that Smashbox trio and put it on my cheekbones & tip of the nose, then put my Becca highlighter in Moonstone and put that on top of the highlight that was on my cheekbones.Morphe 35W Palette
  6. I used color #1 all over my lid and then blended it into the crease as my base color
  7. Then, I put color #2 all over the base color and into the crease using a fluffy blending brush
  8. I put a little bit of #3 into my crease with a fluffy brush and used the tip of my pointer finger to put some on my outer corner
  9. Put a little bit of #4 onto the fluffy blending brush and concentrate that on the center and outer parts of the crease
  10. Use our pointer finger to place #5 onto your outer corner
  11. I use a small brush to apply the highlighter color from the Smashbox trio and put that on my inner corner, I like to try and blend it out into the center of my lid for a gradient effect
  12. I like to layer a little bit of the Becca highlighter right into the inner corner, and I usually blend this out a little along the inner 1/3 of the lower lashline
  13. I suck at eyeliner so I used my Jane Iredale black pencil eyeliner and just lightly lined my upper lashline, I like the thinner eyeliner look, just to make my eyelashes look a little more full.
  14. I used my Covergirl Full Lash Bloom mascara in black, I like to take my time with this and try and make sure my eyelashes are separated, I love this mascara but I think it takes patience and multiple layers to make them long and separated.
  15. Now I usually kiss the back of my hand to get the excess lip balm off of my lips
  16. I used my Colourpop Ultra Blotted Lip in Zuma
  17. Then used the highlighter from the Smashbox trio and put that on my cupid’s bow and on my brow bone.
  18. If I hadn’t run out of my setting spray this is when I would have sprayed my face.

Going Out Makeup Look

5a81925a-44f4-4e37-b4ec-46632e5d50f3

On Saturday we celebrated my roommates twenty-first birthday. We threw her a party and then went out to the bars for midnight (since her birthday was technically Sunday). I had absolutely nothing to do but a few last minute birthday party errands so I decided to take my precious time with my makeup for that night. I decided on a reddish-brown look, I wish this photo showed how truly reddish-orange it was in person. But if you like the way this looks, then continue reading 🙂

Step 1: I used my go-to concealer, the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind in Light Pale, under my eyes, where I have redness on my nose and a little on my chin.

Step 2: The Vaseline Cocoa Butter Lip Therapy is my holy grail. I applied this towards the beginning so it would have some time to penetrate before I apply my lip color.

Step 3: I applied the Smashbox 24 Hour photo finish shadow primer on my eyes.

Step 4: I’m not sure if you’re supposed to wait for your primer to dry so I always apply my contour and highlight while I wait for it to dry. As always, I used my Smashbox contour trio. I never use the bronzer color because it doesn’t match my skin tone. But I put the contour color under my cheekbones, on the sides of my nose, and on under my jawline. I then put the highlighter on my cheekbones, tip of nose & under my eyebrows.

Step 5: I used the Kat Von D Shade & Light Eye Palette for 90% of this look. I applied Ludwin (the base color from the warm quad) all over my lid and blended it out a little. Then I used a blender brush to apply Succubus into my crease, you always want to start light with this color because it is really pigmented, then I slowly build up. Then I used my finger to lightly apply Sytry to the outer corner, then a q-tip to apply a little to my lower lash line. Then I put a mix of succubus & Sytry on my blender brush and blended it into the outer 1/3 of my crease. Then because I wanted the look a little darker I applied Reef from Tarte’s Rainforest of the Sea palette to my crease. It’s sort of a brick color.

Step 6: Now that we’re all done with the main eyeshadow I applied Latinus to my inner corner but it wasn’t as bright as I wanted so I went in and applied my Becca highlighter in Moonstone to my inner corner.

Step 7: If you haven’t noticed, I only use pencil eyeliners. I’m not skilled enough for gel or liquid. I used my Jane Iredale eyeliner in Basic Black, at first I just put a small line right along my lash line and then slowly built it up. I’m not big on a bold eyeliner look.

Step 8: My current favorite mascara is Clinique’s high impact mascara in 01 Black. I put this on my upper and lower lash line, I only put a very little on my lower lash line because I don’t like a dark lower lash line.

Step 9: I blotted my lips with a tissue to take away the excess lip balm.

Step 10: Time for the lip color. I have a really bad habit of wearing lip colors that are basically my natural lip color. But I applied Colourpop’s Ultra Blotted Lip in Zuma.

Step 11: Apply Becca’s Moonstone highlighter on top of the already applied matte highlighter and onto your cupid’s bow.

Step 12: Spray your face with your favorite setting spray. I only have ever tried & owned one so I used the Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray.

All Done!

Now you look fabulous!

Minimal Makeup Look

There are some days when I snooze my alarm 3 times & then need to get ready fairly quickly. Those are always the days my skin looks dull. So here is my “no makeup” makeup look….

This look takes about 3 makeup products. It is super easy & super quick.

Step 1: Apply the Maybelline Age Erase Concealer (the one with the sponge on the end) under your eyes, and where you have any blemishes. I use it where i have redness on my nose and right on my chin.

Step 2: I lightly contoured my nose and my jawbone otherwise I look like I’m 7. Then I highlight the inner corner of my eyes, my cheekbones, my browbone, and the tip of my nose. I use the Smashbox 3-Step Contour Kit.

Step 3: Apply the Clinique High Impact mascara to your top lashes (and bottom if you want). I really like to do both because I have no issue with going a lil’ extra with my eyelashes.

Step 4: (optional) Apply the Burt’s Bees Tinted Lip Balm, my favorite color is Red Dahlia.
